The Clinical Outcomes Research Office is an internationally recognized full-service research enterprise. Housed under the Department of Otolaryngology, the office provides investigators and trainees support in the design, execution and analysis of research studies with the ultimate goal of making a positive impact on people’s lives. Under the leadership of Jay F. Piccirillo, MD, the office also conducts research studies and clinical trials to advance patient care.

Clinical Research
Director of the Clinical Outcomes Research Office Jay Piccirillo, MD, has been conducting research in the field for more than 30 years. His ongoing research studies seek to improve patient care across a number of otolaryngology conditions.
Research collaboration
The office supports investigators at the Washington University School of Medicine as well as researchers throughout the world who want to collaborate with Washington University. More than half of the research projects supported by the office involve multiple disciplines.
Since its inception in 1995, the Clinical Outcomes Research Office has advised on more than 100 clinical trials, outcomes’ studies, and comparative studies for a total of $10 million of funded research projects. The office supports, on average, about 20 open research projects at once.
